Welcome to IAHAIO’s 2013 Conference Social Program Registration page! As always, we will have a superb array of events for you to enjoy while attending the Triennial IAHAIO Conference. As a wonderful addition, therapy dogs are welcome at our social events (pre-registration required). 

Below you will find detailed information for the 3 events that make up the IAHAIO 2013 Social Program.

Welcome Reception - Saturday, 20 July 2013 - 6pm-8pm
On Saturday night July 20, please join us for the gala Welcome Reception and Poster Session for all IAHAIO attendees at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Chicago. At the reception IAHAIO’s President Rebecca Johnson will give us a special welcome and will honor some very special guests. Steve Dale, the well known animal behaviorist, author, and media personality from Chicago will entertain us with an amusing and interesting presentation about the inevitable human-animal bond. The Welcome Reception is complimentary for IAHAIO conference attendees, but we ask that you pre-register. Guest tickets are available at a cost of $20.00 (in-advance or on-site, payments by credit card only). Dress code is tenue de ville (business casual).

Conference Banquet - Sunday, 21 July 2013 - 7pm-10pm
On Sunday night, July 21 you won’t want to miss our wonderful banquet in the fabulous, fairytale-like environment: the Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier in Chicago! We will enjoy a sumptuous meal, wonderful camaraderie, and an entertaining evening program. This is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased at a cost of $65.00, and you are welcome to purchase additional tickets for guests. All tickets must be purchased in advance (there will be no on-site sales). Evening Cruise - Monday, 22 July 2013 - 6:30pm-9pm
To close off the IAHAIO conference, on Monday night, July 22 we board the beautiful First Lady, the flagship of Chicago’s First Lady Cruiseline for a cruise of the Chicago River and if weather permits we will go out on Lake Michigan. While having drinks and a delightful array of delicious hors’ d’oeuvres we will enjoy terrific fellowship and an architectural tour of the stunning Chicago skyline. This is a ticketed event, and ticket sales are limited to 250 guests. Tickets can be purchased at a cost of $35.00, and you are welcome to purchase additional tickets for guests. All tickets must be purchased in advance (there will be no on-site sales). Service animals are permitted in all areas of the boat, but therapy dogs must remain on the outer deck. Dress code is casual.

It is a 28-minute walk (1.18 miles/1.89 km) from the Hyatt Regency Chicago (A) to the end of Navy Pier (B) where the banquet is being held. Attendees should plan to arrange their own transportation to the banquet.

It is a 9-minute walk to the boat ride from the Hyatt Regency Chicago (.41 miles/.7 km).

It is a 1-hour and 18-minute walk (3.27 miles/5.26km) from the Hyatt Regency Chicago to McCormick Place Chicago. The AVMA shuttles will make regular trips between the hotel and McCormick Place.
